An amusement park located north of Chicago was the location of a shooting on Sunday night, which resulted in three persons being hurt.

According to a spokeswoman for the amusement park, bullets were fired from a car into a parking lot outside of Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, which is located around 45 miles north of Chicago. This incident resulted in three persons being hurt. According to the statement made by the spokesperson, the car left the location of the incident as soon as the shots were fired.

Two individuals were sent to the hospital for further assessment, while the third individual declined treatment.

Several videos that were shared on social media showed visitors to the park fleeing the area while others were finding refuge, and the area was also seen to be surrounded by a number of emergency cars.

Following the incident, the park was closed at a rather early hour that night.

According to NBC Chicago, which is a local media, the Lake County Sheriff's Department has verified that it is supporting the Gurnee police department and has said that there is no evidence that the shooting was an active shooter event. In addition, law enforcement officers from the neighboring towns of North Chicago, Waukegan, and Vernon Hills rushed to the site.

Local news station WGN News conducted an interview with Laurie Walker and her daughter Grace, both of whom were present at the park at the time of the incident. Walker said that they were in the southwest portion of the park waiting in line for the Ricochet at 7:50 p.m. when she spotted people racing around in a panic in other areas of the park.

Walker recounted hearing someone say, "There's an active shooter, get down, get down," many times. Because we were confused about what was going on, we decided to leave.

Walker and her daughter scaled two fences so that Walker could make a phone call to her husband. This "got them out of sight." Walker claims that she was finally allowed to leave the park after spending some time hiding from the police.

Gurnee is located in Lake County, about 20 miles north of Highland Park, which was the location of a mass shooting that took place during a Fourth of July parade and resulted in the deaths of seven people.
