Al Murabaa Project: The square city in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia is set to become world's largest downtown

Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the New Square Development Company, announced the establishment of the New Square Development Company with the goal of creating the largest modern downtown in the world as part of the new Saudi reconstruction projects. The project helps to the future development of the city by creating 334,000 employment possibilities. It is situated at the intersection of King Salman and King Khalid Roads, northwest of Riyadh. 2030 is the projected completion date for the new square project.

The new square project will be built on applying sustainability principles and enhancing the standard of living in its designs. The "cube" will be constructed using the newest cutting-edge technology, measuring 400 meters in height and 400 meters in width.

In addition to strolling routes, an innovative museum, a university with a focus on technology and design, an integrated multi-use theater, and more than 80 locations for live events and entertainment, the project's territory surpasses 19 square kilometers.

The proposal has a cubic shape, and the outer façade's design was influenced by the contemporary Najd character. Inside, holographic image technology is used to create a digital environment that mimics the virtual world. Together with hotels, residences, commercial office space, and entertainment venues, the cube will house a variety of businesses, cultural landmarks, and tourist attractions.

The Public Investment Fund's strategy to strengthen the private sector, boost the amount of locally produced goods and services, support the growth of real estate and local infrastructure projects, and diversify the local economy's revenue streams is in line with the launch of the New Square Development Company. Moreover, the project will enhance non-oil domestic product by up to 180 billion riyals.
