In film, everything is typically targeted towards extremes. So, a science fiction picture must have special effects, a romantic film must have romance, a drama must be sad and deep. It's hard to locate items that combine elements from numerous tale genres. The Adam Project, a new Netflix film starring Ryan Reynolds, surprises. Despite presenting itself as a science fiction film based on a futuristic storey of time travel, this new title from Netflix manages to juxtapose many opposing but equally distributed themes: father-son relationship, risk of a world made only of technology, parenting, grief, the inner compass. A journey of over two hours, The Adam Project combines the beauty of lightness with depth, science with psychology, and allows anybody to appreciate the beauty of lightness combined with depth.

Shawn Levy finds the proper balance between excessive lightsaber fights and spectacular effects that overrun the portrayal of reality as we know it. It allows for the tale of an adult man who grew up without a father, a youngster forced to confront a major loss, and a mother who must keep her family together while never losing sight of the beauty of a light banter after a tragic moment or a love storey following a war between spacecraft.

A pleasant, fair, and balanced film that shows that a successful product on the big screen doesn't need the extraordinary but also a plain and "banal" normalcy is The Adam Project's calling card.
