The ZDF programs "I marry a family" and "The Wicherts from next door" from the 1980s and early 1990s were where she gained the majority of her fame. She portrayed Hannelore Wichert, the female lead, in the latter.

On April 25, 1930, Sebaldt was born in Berlin. At the Hebbeltheater there, she started her career in the 1950s. Plays like "The Broken Jug" and "Minna von Barnhelm" gave her her first acting opportunities. In the local movie "When the village music plays on Sunday evening" from 1953, she made her acting debut.

Roles in comedies, thrillers, and literary adaptations came after that. Sebaldt appeared in almost 50 movies in the first 10 years of her acting career, including "The Captain of Köpenick," "The Buddenbrooks," and "Charley's Aunt." Alongside Peter Alexander and Heinz Erhardt, she stood in front of the camera.

Sebaldt progressively shifted to television starting in the 1960s. She had multiple appearances in the ZDF criminal dramas "Der Kommissar," "Derrick," and "Der Alte" in the 1970s.

Sebaldt married actor and director Robert Freitag in 1965. He passed away in 2010. The couple shared a daughter.
