Klara Castanho has successfully sued Antonia Fontenelle for defamation. After Fontenelle revealed confidential details regarding Castanho's pregnancy and adoption, the actress was granted R$50,000 (about $10,000) in damages.

In June 2022, Castanho stated that she had been raped and had opted to undergo an abortion. Fontenelle then posted information of Castanho's tale on her YouTube channel, infringing on her privacy and causing her great mental suffering.

A judge in So Paulo found on June 24, 2023, that Fontenelle had defamed Castanho and ordered her to pay damages. The judge also ordered Fontenelle to delete any Castanho-related videos and information from her YouTube channel.

Castanho's win represents a triumph for all women who have been victims of sexual abuse and invasions of privacy. It sends a message that those who violate survivors' privacy will face consequences.

Castanho said in a statement that she was "happy with the outcome of the case" and hoped it would "send a message to other women who have been through similar experiences."

"I want to thank everyone who has supported me during this difficult time," she stated. "I am grateful for the justice that was served."

Fontenelle has yet to respond to the judgment.
