According to the German Foreign Minister, the traffic light alliance does not adequately explain itself. "Rather the controversial" recently gained attention.

Greens Party's Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock questioned the traffic light coalition's outward behavior. Baerbock stated at an FAZ event in Frankfurt am Main that "the controversial thing" has recently become more prominent in government collaboration. This "certainly did not contribute to calming down society"

Governments must justify their choices and make their trade-offs clear, according to Baerbock. "I would say that we have lost something, critically speaking." According to the minister, politics have been under "a high stress factor" ever since the start of the Ukrainian conflict. He also acknowledged that "the explanations then slipped down a bit."

The traffic light coalition has experienced disagreements on a number of issues, including the heating law and EU asylum law, since the partnership's inception.

Recently, Social Democrats like Chancellor Olaf Scholz and SPD parliamentary group leader Rolf Mützenich had also criticized the coalition's tone. The Chancellor stated during his news conference during the summer that "neither I nor anyone else likes the fact that there was such a loud discussion."

Mützenich claims that he looks forward to a summer holiday free of "necessary daily struggle" and "constant discord." If at all feasible, Mützenich said, internal clarification should be made of disagreements. That has been making him really angry recently.
