The Russian forces annexed the Crimea peninsula in 2014. The Kremlin supported the separatist rebel forces fighting in eastern Ukraine.

There are more than 14,000 Ukrainian are dead since 2014 including civilians and soldiers.

From last couple of weeks, the conflicts  along the Russian-Ukrainian border has increased at an alarming rate. The United States are increasingly concerned over the suspicious  movement of Russian troops in Crimea.

The Pentagon spokesman John Kirby says, " We are concerned about the recent escalations of Russian aggression in Eastern Ukraine including violations of July 2020 ceasefire that led to the deaths of four Ukrainian soldiers. On the 26th of March and the wounding of two others. Russia's destabilising actions undermine the deescalation intentions that had been achieved through an OSCE brokered agreement back in July of last year."

The United States and the NATO alliance don't recognise Russian annexation of Crimea from Ukraine. In a response to the Russian troops movement, the European Command of U.S. Military has raised its surveillance level from 'possible crisis ' to 'potential imminent crisis '.

The Kremlin said that their movements do not mean any harm. Kremlin spokesman Dimitry Peskov says, " No one needs to be concerned about it. It poses no threat to anybody. The Russia is undertaking the essential actions to maintain its border security.

But Kiev takes Moscow’s movement as a threat to their sovereignty.
