iPhone 14 Pro screen

Apple recently made the announcement that the feature that has been available on the Apple Watch since 2019 is now available on the new iPhone. The iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone Pro Max both have an always-on screen, which displays the selected clock and tools on the device's screen, even when they are unlocked and not being actively used.

It has been available on Android phones (particularly Samsung Galaxy devices) for years, and Apple is adding it to iPhone 14 Pro models, which points to potential adoption for all iPhones. The always-on display is a technology that stays lit after the initial timeout period, and it is a technology that has been available on Android phones. iOS 16 was made available for download at the same time as Apple introduced its new iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus models, the Apple Watch Ultra, the Apple Watch 8, and the supercharged AirPods Pro 2.

When you lock your iPhone, the lock screen will normally turn off, and you will need to either press a button, lift your phone, or tap your screen to activate it again. However, if you have the always-on screen, the lock screen will not turn off; instead, it will remain dim. This will allow you to access the Quick View of time, tools, and live activities without having to touch your phone.

For instance, if you get a text message on your iPhone, you typically only have a few seconds to look at it before the screen shuts off. However, if your iPhone has an always-on screen, you have an endless amount of time to read the message.

When you put your iPhone 14 Pro or Pro Max face down on a surface or put it in your pocket, the screen will automatically darken in order to save battery life. This is because there is no need to "peek" at the screen when the device is in your pocket or when it is placed face down on a table because it is facing the opposite direction.

According to Apple, the always-on display can now operate at a refresh rate as low as 1 Hz (that is, once per second) with the new low-power mode. Additionally, it uses multiple co-processors in the chipsets of the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max to refresh the screen while using as little power as possible.

It is possible that you can turn it off in your settings, and users of Apple Watch can turn off the always-on display in the display and brightness setting, so you will likely turn it off on the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. You can also customize a setting that is very similar to this one on Samsung phones. The massive company did not say whether or not this feature is optional, but it is possible that you can do so.
