The Dallas Mavericks defeated the Warriors 116-113, owing to Luka Doncic's outstanding effort, which included his fifth triple double of the season and 41 points, outscoring Steph Curry's 32.

The Warriors, who won the title in five games against the Mavericks last spring, fell for the second time in seven games following a sluggish start to the season.

Golden State led 110-108 after Stephen Curry scored 32 points, including a fast 3-pointer against Maxi Kleber, but Dallas answered by scoring the next five points to take the lead for good.

Tim Hardaway Jr., who finished with 22 points, countered Curry's three-pointer with one of his own on Doncic's 12th and final assist. Doncic stopped a Curry layup attempt, prompting Josh Green's short throw.

The Warriors were behind by two points when Curry was penalized for traveling with 10 seconds left in the game.

Dorian Finney-Smith missed one of two free throws to hold the Golden State deficit at three. Curry's Splash Brother ended 1-for-6 from deep with five points. Klay Thompson got a solid look for the 3, but the ball fell short.

Golden State led by 17 points in the first quarter but grabbed its first lead before halftime thanks to 14 points and 10 rebounds from Jonathan Kuminga.
